Arrival in Utrecht
You will cycle to Amsterdam on the banks of the lovely little River Vecht. Characteristic for this area are the many stately homes and garden pavilions built by rich Amsterdam merchants in the 17th and 18th Centuries. At the end of the day, Amsterdam welcomes you with its 165 romantic inner-city canals, 1281 bridges and more than 600,000 bikes. Amsterdam is a city for exploring. There is so much to see and do, whether you like art, culture, an evening out or just looking around and taking in the spirit of the city. A canal boat tour gives you a better look at the lovely canal houses.
Today is the day you cross the rural Green Heart. On the way, you will come across characteristic old Dutch towns and villages. As you wander around Gouda at the end of the day, don’t miss the Gothic town hall (1450); the Weighing House(1667); the romantic inner city canals and the stained glass windows in St. John’s Church. If possible, plan your trip so that you can witness the traditional Thursday morning cheese market at the start of Day 4. Gouda is also famous for making candles and syrup waffles (try one hot!).
Would the 80 km be to long for you then you can split this day by booking an extra overnight in Woerden. (43 km and 49 km)
The landscape of rivers, polders, lakes, woods, parks and marshy fens makes for a wonderful bike trip. You will see stately homes and castles along the way. The lively centre of the big city of Utrecht will draw you to its peaceful inner city canals and characteristic wharves, unique to Utrecht. Explore the pretty Museum Quarter, or go (window) shopping on some of the quieter shopping streets.
After breakfast in your hotel, you will return home.

...The trip was very well set up with all of the information we needed. The cycling was great, through lovely countryside and through towns at the times that we really needed a break and some food. Hotels were great with buffet breakfasts with lots of variety. I would definitely recommend getting the GPS or the gps maps for your own phone, especially to get you through the cities to your hotel...
...We really loved our trip! Thank you very much! We are keen to do another one in the future! We really enjoyed the route from Utrecht to Amsterdam going past all the houses by the canals. We also really enjoyed the first leg of Gouda to Utrecht again where all the waterways and houses were. The ortlieb panniers provided were excellent and so was the black box that went at the front of the bike...
...Always fun, every day was a new challenge. Having been blessed with beautiful weather this year, the scenery and settings made each new route a choice of stop and take in the view or, push on to the next. After a short while, we agreed to not stop so much! So many times my wife and I shared those scenes in conversations along the route, and we're deeply impressed with the bike mindset of drivers, town planners and sustainability of your country. Thanks Dutch bike tours x...
...We had a fantastic trip! The maps were incredibly easy to follow, the routes were beautiful and the accomodation was a welcome rest after a good day's cycling. We cannot wait for another Dutch Bike Tours holiday next year!...
...Travelling through the quiet, beautiful Dutch countryside with no idea what's round the next corner is an adventure. There's so many different things to see, you feel like each day is as long as a week. The hotels were all really nice, it was such a treat to arrive after a long day in the saddle and your suitcase is waiting for you!...
...It was excellent, varied and just lovely. I loved pretty much every minute...
....I personally had a great time as did my daughter. I thought the bikes worked great, and have actually looked to see if Batavus is a brand available in the US. Apparently it is not sold on this side of the Atlantic, too bad. Your service was terrific, with our luggage being transported for us and the fact that you were able to change my daughter's bike after the first day for a smaller frame. The GPS was a valuable device, but there were a few times, particularly in the cities and towns where construction kept us from following the preprogrammed route and it was often somewhat difficult to find our way back to the blue line. Again, I don't think that was your issue. If I ever get the chance to ride in the Netherlands again, I will certainly utilize Dutch Bike Tours. I was most appreciative that you were able to make hotel reservations outside the actual touring period....
...We had a wonderful time in Holland, exploring both the countryside and cities on our bikes. The organisation was excellent along with the hotels, which we modern and very spacious - the staff were most welcoming and friendly...
...We had a wonderful trip, following mainly the 5-00 Green Heart Route.: Amsterdam-Gouda-Bunnik-Amsterdam. it was really flat. We made a detour to Oss from Bunnik, and back directly in one day to Amsterdam (110km), so we did not use our hotel in Bunnik for one night. It could not be cancelled. No money back. The sun was shining and we had tail-winds all the way, both going south and coming back north. The hotels were excellent, and my son asked me “why do we have so fancy hotels?" The bikes were very good, rolling effortlessly. We had a puncture, but this was fixed within hours (in Gouda). The GPS was a disappointment. The first day we tried to follow it, but it was not of much use, slow and not changing route if we took a shortcut somewhere. We used our own phone GPS. The detailed map and the numbering system were quite useful. All in all a very nice biking tour, maybe back next year...
....We had a really great holiday despite getting very lost on the first day (Bunnik to Amsterdam). Some of the green and white signs had been painted over, moved or turned around. However, the maps and paperwork you provided were really helpful and informative enabling us to get to the hotel.
The hotels were excellent; great rooms, fantastic customer service and good food (especially in the Hotel Casa 400 in Amsterdam). The electric bike was very good quality and my husband enjoyed riding it. We just loved the cycle tracks that exist everywhere in Holland and I felt really downhearted when I returned to the horrible, busy roads in the UK. The Dutch people we met along the way were really friendly and helpful, pointing us in the right direction when necessary.I will be booking another holiday with you for next year; a ride involving tulip fields!....
....We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, definitely the best adventure we have been on for some time. The hotels you chose were absolutely first class and the routes were all charming and most picturesque. There was that confusion on day 2 when the junction numbers did not match the detailed route description.so you should maybe check into that issue. But overall the trip was fabulous! I know you will not mind so we have passed on your name and contact info. to some friends who are planning a cycling trip in Holland...
